An incident in the aftermath of the Nepal earthquake in 2015 changed the course of our lives!

Despite a major disaster, young children who sustained injuries and became disabled were excluded by their own communities and schools. This apathy sowed the idea of Samaaveshi - a mission to promote 'inclusive education' where all children with and without disability study together in the same classroom.

Three years later, we (Nivedita and Ashok) quit our jobs and moved to Karjat tribal block near Mumbai. Finally, on 3rd Dec 2018 (World Disability Day), we inaugurated Samaaveshi as an inclusive kindergarten in Kashele village, approx. 60 km from Mumbai.
